Soccer Fantasy Pro Rules
Fantasy Pro is a salary cap style fantasy game, sometimes also referred to as a stock market style game, where managers use a set budget of 1,000,000 fantasy dollars to build the best possible team. Player prices are set a few weeks before the season based on their past performance and potential and then updated throughout the season based on demand. The more managers add a given player to their team, the more his price (and the value of a roster the player is on) goes up.
Creating a team
Once logged in, users take the first step towards playing the game by choosing a public or private league to join or by creating his/her own league. After that, a user needs to create a team by choosing a name and icon name. There's no limit on the amount of teams a user may create. Create a league for your friends and another for your co-workers. Or how about one for people just learning about MLS and another league for people considered "experts"? Play as often as you'd like -- it's free!
Formations
|
The next step is drafting a team. There are a number of different formations (see to the right and below) that can be used to build a fantasy starting 11, but here are some rules on how positions can be filled: Users may start the season with one formation and switch it from week to week. There's no set formula that guarantees maximum points. In order to switch lineup formations, a user must release one player and add another from a different position (so long as it does not exceed the maximum players at a given position). |

Salary Cap
Every team in the Fantasy Challenge has a salary cap of 1,000,000 fantasy dollars. All players are assigned a dollar value at the start of the season based upon their performance in previous years. Rookies tend to have lower dollar amounts, while All-Star veterans and Designated Players will likely command top-dollar.
Player Salary
Every week, a player's salary can rise and fall based upon overall add/drop. If many users within Soccer Fantasy Pro add a rookie who scored three goals in a given week, that rookie's salary will increase. If many users drop a player whose playing time is declining, that player's salary will also decline. Salaries are updated 1-2 times a week throughout the season.
Buying and Selling Players
Users may add and drop players at any time up until one hour before the start of the first game in a given week. The maximum number of trades users are allowed to make is different for each league. A league's owner determines the maximum number of trades at the time a league is created. Dropping a player and adding another one to fill the roster slot is considered one move. Before the season starts though, you may add and drop as many players as necessary.
Scoring
Every team earns fantasy points based on the team players actual statistics in MLS regular season games. Below is the breakdown of how many points each statistic is worth:
